Founded in 1972 by Howard Jones, the Opportunities Industrialization Center of Wilson, Inc. (OIC of Wilson) has been a cornerstone of support, growth, and opportunity in the Wilson community for more than 50 years. What began as a vision to uplift individuals through education and employment has grown into a lasting mission that continues to change lives every day.
At the OIC of Wilson, we are driven by our slogan, “Helping people, Help themselves.” We believe that when people are given the right tools, encouragement, and support, they can overcome barriers and build successful futures. Our programs are designed to empower youth and adults through education, job readiness, workforce training, and personal development. We understand that searching for a job or working toward a new career can feel overwhelming. That is why we take the time to truly get to know the people we serve. The more we understand each participant’s goals, strengths, and challenges, the better we can connect them to opportunities that fit their path. We do not simply help people find employment. We help them build confidence, stability, and long-term success.
The OIC of Wilson is also part of a larger movement inspired by the vision of Dr. Leon H. Sullivan, whose leadership sparked a national effort to strengthen communities through economic empowerment.
